The Technical Secretary of MARM, Alicia Camacho, along with the Deputy Director of Citizen Information, Documentation and Publications of MARM and representatives of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the Chair Pascual Carrión, today introduced the Internet portal CHIL expertise in agriculture, agribusiness and rural development.
This portal, developed by Cátedra Pascual Carrión of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, at the initiative of MARM, has emerged as a collaboration platform that integrates a internet professional network and ability to free web hosting companies, cooperatives and related organizations agribusiness and rural world.
It also contains tools for knowledge management including the publication of documents, wikis, blogs, forums, news, and community-oriented services such as accommodation agrifood, management and promotion of training courses, or e-commerce.
CHIL also includes georeferencing information, people and companies and automatic translation of content into 31 languages.
This platform can thus show the whole industry on interactive maps that link institutions, associations, cooperatives and technicians, improve and promote communication between them.
The portal also allows host www.chil.org or replicating virtual community Web sites, from institutions and companies to I+D, design the pages in search engines and industry players to participate, create and access knowledge from experts from all Europe as well as improve communication with society institutions, associations with their partners, with the cooperative unions and use this as support for the design and use of specialized services.
Pascual Carrión The Chair of Information Technology in Agriculture from UPM, which expands on this portal, was promoted by the Marmara and the Polytechnic University of Madrid in 2007, with the goal of working in knowledge management in the sector in two ways : helping the development of a culture of Information Technology in it and creatively apply them in the transmission of ideas, new techniques and developments.
Pascual Carrión's name was given to this chair in recognition of one of the most important agricultural engineers of the twentieth century and a great reformer of agricultural structures in Spain.

Yesterday (Monday 18th July) URCACYL & UPM-Cátedra Pascual Carrión project collaborators developed at Pedrajas de San Esteban (Valladolid, Spain) the 2nd Chil Platform training seminar with PIÑONSOL Cooperative. For the cooperative, to participate in the Red-ITAA project means they can ask for the configuration of their Chil webpage, and UPM will help them in whatever they need, during the time of the project.
