  Social Networks for rural development in Mexico: Sustainable Rural Development National Network (RENDRUS)-Nuñez et al. Despite the marginal socioeconomic conditions in which several rural producers live in Mexico, their capacities to invent and to innovate have generated new strategies for achieving rural development that are rarely recognized. This background has generated many local strategies for rural development that have promoted the construction of a network of knowledge with the potential of impact over rural regions of Mexico. RENDRUS is an effort to recognize rural producers by creating an space for exchanging successful rural development experiences all around the country. Activities such as the annual meetings and forums that have been occurring for already 15 years, have created spaces in which producers exchange information and knowledge with other producers. Studying these spaces using a network analysis, show that these spaces have promoted networks of knowledge that stimulate rural development and even upscale it from a local to a regional level.
